How Illinois jobs actually run
Utility territory matters here more than most owners expect: ComEd, Ameren Illinois, City Water Light and Power each have their own disconnect and metering process, and the sequence of who de-energizes what is usually the longest lead item on the schedule.
Freight is the other half. We route Illinois work along I-55, I-57, I-80, I-88 and I-294, which is what keeps trailer and crew cost predictable on a quote instead of padded.
Chicago and its collar counties give us the widest range of equipment on this site, from century-old switchgear in loft conversions to switchboards pulled out of Loop high-rises still under warranty. The industrial ring through Joliet, Cicero and the Calumet side runs railcar, tank and metals operations with heavy motor loads. Downstate is a different business entirely: the agricultural processing plants at Decatur and Peoria, the Ameren Illinois distribution system and the refineries in the southwest corner. Bus duct and bus plug work shows up here more than anywhere, because so much Chicago-area industrial and institutional building was wired on busway and the plugs come out by the pallet during renovations.

Our electrical room is in a basement with a tight door. Is that a problem?
It is routine. Switchgear sections, transformers and gensets frequently have to be cut down or partially disassembled to clear a door width, an elevator limit or a stair turn. The access survey at your Illinois site establishes the path before we commit to a date, and that cost is already inside the offer.
Will you take the equipment we cannot sell along with the good items?
